Itinerary

DAY 1

Puerto Natales

Arrive Punta Arenas and transfer to Puerto Natales. Overnight stay at the Costa Australis Hotel.

DAY 2

Puerto Natales - Puerto Bories - Serrano - Balmaceda Glaciers

From Puerto Bories, a small town 4 kilometers away from Punta Arenas, enjoy a boat excursion through the Última Esperanza Fjord. Witness the beautiful sights of Mount Balmaceda, numerous waterfalls and Patagonian avifauna. Tour the Serrano Glaciers with spectacular views of a lagoon and ice tunnels. Afterwards, enjoy a delicious charcoal barbeque at the Perales Tourist Ranch.

DAY 3

Puerto Natales - Torres del Paine National Park - Milodón Cave

Arrive Torres del Paine National Park. Spanning over 240,000 hectares this nature land was declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1978. Enjoy a scenic drive though the impressive Andean massif, glaciers, lagoons and lakes. In the afternoon, visit the Milodón Cave Natural Monument where prehistoric and extinct animal remains were discovered.

DAY 4

Isla Magdalena - Punta Arenas

Depart Puerto Natales. Arrive at Punta Arenas. Isla Magdalena National Park is located on the Straits of Magellan and 35 kilometers north of the city of Punta Arenas. To reach the island, you will need to sail 2.5 hours along a route that was also followed by other famous seafarers such as Charles Darwin and Francis Drake. On the island, you will hike to see the large colonies of Magellanic Penguins. With an estimated population of 120,000 resting penguins, the island is an important region for penguin breeding. Return to Punta Arenas for an overnight stay at the Diego De Almagro Hotel.

DAY 5

San Pedro de Atacama

Depart Punta Arenas. Arrive Santiago and connect flight to Calama. Arrive Calama. Transfer to San Pedro de Atacama and check in to the Diego de Almagro Hotel. In the evening, enjoy an astronomic tour of the Atacama Desert for world renowned star gazing. The tour will include explanation of the skies seen through the naked eye and constellations, and teach you how to read a map of the skies. (Tours are offered daily and only suspended when there is a full moon)

DAY 6

San Pedro de Atacama - Atacama Salt Lake - Altiplano Lagoon - Socaire Village

Arrive at Chile’s largest salt deposit Salar de Atacama. The trip continues to the Altiplano lagoons located at an altitude of 4,500 meters and 18 kilometers south of Socaire, one of the seven sectors included in the Los Flamencos National Reserve. The region is home to seldom seen fauna such as the horned coot, Chilean flamingo, Baird’s sandpiper, Andean avocet, crested duck and Andean goose. The area is surrounded by volcanoes and pools of emerald green waters enclosed within the Andean mountain peaks. Enjoy lunch at the Socaire Village.

DAY 7

San Pedro de Atacama - El Tatio Geyser - Machuca Village - Moon Valley

Arrive El Tatio Geysers geothermal field. Experience an amazing spectacle of steaming fumaroles that can reach up to six meters in heights, and guided walks through hot craters of mud and geysers. Continue to Machuca, a picturesque village located at 4,000 meters in altitude and inhabited by Andean llama shepherds. The region is inhabited by local fauna, llamas, alpacas, ducks, Andean seagulls and flamingos.


In the afternoon travel 43 kilometers to the Cordillera de la Sal (salt mountain range). The mountain ranges were formed millions of years of ago and today you can see a great variety of natural sculptures, varied stratifications and colors by the mineral diversity of the place. Continue to the Valle de Marte also known as the Valley of Mars or Death to experience the ultimate barren landscape where no vegetation or insects can be seen. Afterwards, you will visit the Las Tres Marias a beautiful geological formation near an old salt mine. Your exploration will end in the evening at the giant sand dune in Valle de la Luna known for its moonlike landscape of dunes, rugged mountains and an amazing spectacle of colors during sunset.

DAY 8

San Pedro de Atacama - Santiago

Depart San Pedro. Transfer to Calama for flight to Santiago where you will stay at the W Santiago Hotel. Enjoy a half-day tour visiting all the main attractions of Santiago including the Cerro Santa Lucia, the La Moneda Palace and the traditional Plaza de Armas square. Explore historical buildings found in neighborhoods such as the Metropolitan Cathedral and the National Museum of History. End your evening at the Barrio Bellavista, Santiago’s bohemian neighborhood with some of the best bars and restaurants.

DAY 9

Santiago - Valparaiso - Viña Del Mar

Travel to the Pacific Coast to Viña Del Mar and en-route through Casablanca known for its fine vineyards. Viña Del Mar is often referred as the “Garden City” as it is famous for its flower garden landscapes and beautiful beaches. Continue to the port City of Valparaiso founded in the 16th century. The port was declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 2003 and offers unique architecture. Enjoy the view of the colorful homes and buildings on the hillside that can be reached by climbing long stairs or taking the cable cars built in the late 19th century. A private tour to the Nobel Prize winner linguist and poet Pablo Neruda’s former home can also be arranged.
